Company History

Consumers Automotive Center, Inc., better known as Consumers Auto was kick-started by Hermil “Big Boss” and Elenita Olfindo on December 8, 1990, an offspring of Consumers Appliance Traders, Inc. which the couple founded in 1970 with nothing but seven hundred pesos and an indomitable will. It acquired a franchise to sell Mazda trucks, pickups, vans and AUVs in the province.

In 1992, Big Boss handed the reins to his son, Hermil Olfindo Jr., better known as “HBO.” The small car dealer was able to introduce the Mazda brand as a tough, durable, and value-for-money vehicle. Owing to the success of the Mazda brand, the company had steady growth for the next five years with its clientele growing to include the neighboring provinces of Isabela, Ifugao, and Quirino.

After much success in vehicle sales, the company experienced a sudden, unforeseen decline. In October 1997, the Asian financial crisis hit the country. As the consumer mindset gradually shifted from car ownership to car maintenance and upkeep, HBO set his sights on shifting the business focus from auto dealership to after-warranty sales and services. It was on March 18, 1998 that the Consumers Automotive Center building was inaugurated in Solano. It was the first of its kind in Region II, equipped with the latest equipment for car maintenance and service.

In 2003, HBO decided to establish JNM Motors, Consumers Auto’s sister company. JNM allowed the company to explore more opportunities and capture more of the market, as the possibility of expansion became more plausible. JNM Motors-Solano was inaugurated and started operations on August 8, 2003.

Today, Consumers Automotive Center, Inc. stands as one of the pioneers and leaders in the field of car service in Region II – with over 100 employees, six branches in two provinces and sub-dealers in Cagayan, with future expansion plans in Ilocos, Pangasinan, and Metro Manila.
